Welcome to the Fordoun Sawmill Wind Turbine online consultation.
Galliford Try Renewables (GTR), part of the Galliford Try group, has been granted planning permission to erect a single turbine of up to 900kW capacity, 77m in height (253ft) at the Fordoun Sawmill.
Pallet Logistics, who specialise in sawmilling and pallet manufacturing, is keen to foster sustainability throughout its activities. This development will allow the company to make a contribution towards its own, local and Government sustainability targets, whilst reducing energy costs, mitigating price volatility and increasing job security for a local employer.
In December 2010, GTR received planning approval to erect a meteorological (met) mast at the site of the proposed wind turbine. The purpose of the met mast is to monitor the wind resource at the site, to enable an accurate assessment of the site’s generating potential and determine an appropriate model of turbine.
A Public Exhibition was held at Auchenblae Village Hall on Wednesday 11th May 2011. The exhibition provided residents with the opportunity to find out about the proposal and discuss it with the project team. Feedback from the exhibition showed that 94% of those who completed a questionnaire supported proposal, and the important economic and environmental benefits it would provide to a local employer were recognised.
